Getting Back on Track With Your Fitness Goals

Honestly, it happens to the best of us. You may start off your weightloss or fitness goals saying you’ll lose X amount of weight and get strong. Sometimes you actually lose some weight, a few pounds and you’re happy with your results.

However, life happens. You may get pregnant and need to take things slow, it could be work or just starting a new business and it’s taking such a huge toll that you can’t even find time to work out. All of a sudden, one day goes into 3 weeks and before you know it, it’s been a year since you worked out and you’re wondering how on earth will you get back on track.

I have a few tips that can help you get back on track after you fall off for some time.

  • Settle your mind first: as with all other things in life, settle it in your mind. Why do you want to lose weight, what are you hoping to achieve. The first thing to do is to settle it in your mind and make up your mind that you’re ready to do this and get started.
  • Start small: Don’t think that you’re going to start running at 50 miles per hour immediately or that you’ll start lifting the heaviest weight at the gym. Start small; increase your water intake, walk to the store, reduce your sugar and just take a few more steps. You can start from there and then build gradually till you get to your goals.
  • Take things slow: it may seem a bit frustrating at first when you’re not able to do things you could formerly do, but don’t be in a hurry to get back there. Take things slowly. Have weekly goals that will contribute to your overall goal and keep progressing until you get back to how strong you were and even get stronger.
  • Be patient: fitness is a marathon and not a sprint. Don’t try to take shortcuts. Just focus on getting stronger and stronger until you get to your goal.

I hope these tips help you as you get started in your fitness journey or get back on track.

Good luck!!
