You Versus You. The Only Battle That Actually Matters in Weight Loss
Most women who struggle to lose weight do not have an information problem. They do not need another meal plan. They do not need another workout programme. They do not need another tip or hack or secret formula.
What they need is to get honest about the real battle that is happening.
And that battle is not between you and your body. It is not between you and your schedule. It is not between you and the biscuits in the cupboard or the takeaway on a Friday night.
The battle is you versus you.
The comfort zone is keeping you stuck
Here is something I see constantly. Women who desperately want to lose weight, who talk about it, think about it, research it but who are completely unwilling to leave the comfort zone that is keeping them exactly where they are.
You cannot expect different results while doing the same things. That is not pessimism. That is just logic.
If you are still reaching for junk food when you are stressed. Still addicted to sugar. Still skipping meals and then overeating at night. Still scrolling for motivation instead of building structure, the results are going to stay the same no matter how badly you want them to change.
Comfort is the enemy of transformation. Not your age. Not your metabolism. Not how busy you are. The path of least resistance that your brain will always choose unless you consciously, deliberately choose something different.
You have to be coachable
This is one of the most important things I tell every woman who comes into my programme.
Being coachable is not just about following instructions. It is about being willing to be challenged. Being willing to hear something that disrupts your current thinking and choosing to implement it anyway rather than explaining why it will not work for you.
So many women come to me with years of failed attempts behind them. And when we dig into what happened, it was not the programme that failed. It was the resistance and the excuses. The unwillingness to be pushed past the comfortable edge of what they already knew.
Being coachable means deciding that your results matter more than being right. That your health matters more than your habits. That the version of you on the other side of this discomfort is worth the temporary difficulty of getting there.

This is you versus you
I want you to really sit with this framing for a moment.
Not you versus your circumstances. Not you versus your past. Not you versus the women on Instagram who seem to have it all figured out. You versus you!
The version of you that chooses the easy thing versus the version of you that chooses the right thing. The version of you that hits snooze versus the version of you that gets up and moves her body. The version of you that says I will start Monday versus the version of you that starts today imperfectly, without the perfect plan, but starts nonetheless.
I wake up at 4am to work out. Not because I always feel like it. Not because every morning is easy. But because I made a decision a long time ago that my health comes before my comfort. Before my schedule gets full. Before the day has a chance to take over.
And I meal prep on weekends. Not because I have unlimited time. But because I know that the version of me who has no plan at 7pm on a Tuesday night is going to make very different choices than the version of me who already knows exactly what she is eating.
Structure is not a restriction. Structure is what frees you from the exhausting daily decision of what to do next.
What the actual work looks like
Let me be practical for a moment because I never want to leave you with a mindset shift and no action.
Stop skipping meals. Skipping meals does not accelerate weight loss; it leads to overeating later and keeps your body in a stressed, depleted state. Eat consistently, balanced and enough.
Stop looking for shortcuts. The slimming teas, the magic pills, the extreme fasting they do not work long-term, and many of them actively harm you. You know this. It is time to act like you know it.
Start building structure. What are you eating this week? When are you working out? What is the plan for the moments when life gets hard and old habits come calling? Answer these questions before the week begins, and you give yourself a fighting chance.
Prioritise your health above the noise. Your job will always have demands. Your family will always need you. The to-do list will never fully clear. Your health cannot wait for all of that to settle down because it never will. You have to choose it deliberately, consistently, and unapologetically.
A final word
The women who reach their goals — the ones who lose 20, 30, 49 kilos and keep it off, the ones who come off medications and wear clothes they had not fitted into in years and look in the mirror and genuinely love what they see are not special.
They are not more disciplined by nature. They are not more motivated. They did not have easier circumstances or more time or fewer obstacles.
They just decided. Clearly, firmly, and without waiting for perfect conditions. They decided that the version of themselves on the other side of this journey was worth fighting for.
And then they showed up. Day after day. Imperfectly and consistently.
You versus you. That is the only battle. And you are more than capable of winning it. 💛
