Her Doctor Was Shocked! How Queen Lost 44 Pounds at 58 and Came Off All Her Medications

I have had the privilege of witnessing thousands of transformations over my decade of coaching women. But every now and then, a story comes along that stops me completely.

This is one of those stories.

Meet Queen. She is 58 years old. A grandmother. And one of the most inspiring women I have ever had the honour of coaching.

When Queen joined April Laugh Fitness, she was carrying 44 pounds she could not shift, managing Type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol, all on medication. She had broken her leg in 2023 and was navigating the physical and emotional aftermath of that. She was, in her own words, struggling.

Today? She has lost 44 pounds, 20 kilograms. She has gone from a dress size 18/20 to a size 14. She is wearing high heels again. She wakes up at 5am to work out. And her doctor, who had been managing her medications for years was completely shocked.

Every single medication is gone.

How it started

Queen did not join the programme because she wanted to fit into a smaller dress size. She joined because she wanted to live longer. She wanted her health back. She wanted to be around for her grandchildren in a way that her body, at the time, was making increasingly difficult.

That is a powerful why. And as I always say, when your why is strong enough, it carries you through everything.

But Queen will be the first to tell you that it was not easy at the beginning.

The 5am workout sessions were a real challenge. She remembers sitting through an entire session, watching, not participating because she did not yet feel confident enough to join in. She was not sure she could keep up.

But she stayed, watched, and eventually she asked.

And the moment she asked, the community showed up for her completely.

The role of community and accountability

This is the part of Queen’s story that I want every woman who is on the fence to hear.

Queen did not transform in isolation. She transformed because she was surrounded by women who were doing the same thing, showing up every day, posting their meals, sharing their workouts, celebrating each other’s wins, and refusing to let each other quit.

The accountability groups inside April Laugh Fitness played a crucial role in her journey. Knowing that other women were watching. Knowing that she was expected to show up. Knowing that if she went quiet, someone would come looking for her, that accountability changed everything.

She went from sitting on the sidelines at her very first session to becoming one of the most consistent, most committed members in the community. She stopped needing external encouragement to keep going because the habit had become part of who she was.

And that shift from needing accountability to being accountability is one of the most beautiful things I watch happen to women on this programme.

What changed about how she ate

Queen is very open about what her eating looked like before she joined. Large portions. Heavy oil in her cooking. The kind of habits that feel normal until you realise how significantly they are affecting your body.

The programme did not tell her to starve. Members eat breakfast, lunch, dinner, and even snacks up to five times a day But they learn to eat with intention. Portion control. Weighing food for accuracy. Understanding what a balanced plate actually looks like rather than just filling one.

One of the biggest shifts for Queen was in how she cooked. She learned to use minimal oil or none at all, in meals she had been cooking heavily for years. She learned that the food did not have to be bland or boring to be healthy. It just had to be prepared differently.

From a size 18/20 to a size 14. And back in her heels.

I have to mention this because it made me so happy when Queen told me.

She is wearing high heels again. After everything her body had been through the broken leg, the weight, the health challenges, she is standing tall in heels and feeling every bit of the confidence that comes with it.

She moved from a size 18/20 to a size 14. Not through starvation or extreme measures. Through consistency, structure, proper nutrition, and daily movement done week after week after week.

And here is the thing that makes Queen’s story even more remarkable. After her subscription period ended, she did not stop. She maintained everything she had built. The routine, the habits, and the workouts were no longer something she was doing for a programme. They were simply who she had become.

Queen’s message to every woman reading this

Joining this programme was the greatest gift she ever gave herself.

And she wants every woman who is hesitating, looking at the investment and calling it an expense, who is telling herself she will start when the time is right, who is waiting for the perfect moment, to hear this directly.

Your health is not an expense. It is an investment. The greatest one you will ever make. Because when your health fails, everything else fails with it. And when your health thrives, everything in your life becomes possible.

Queen is 58 years old. She has grandchildren. She had a broken leg, diabetes, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol.

And she decided it is not too late. It is never too late. If she can do it, so can you. 💛
