Mum of 5, Two Jobs, Prima Lost 11.2kg in 3 Months Without Giving Up Her Life

I want to say something before I tell you Prima’s story.

Losing weight as a mum is hard. It is a completely different challenge from losing weight when you are single or living alone. Because before you even think about yourself, you have children to care for, a household to run, extended family, work, and a hundred other demands that come before your own needs ever get a look in.

This is why so many mothers struggle. Not because they lack desire or discipline. But because nobody ever prepares them for how hard it is to choose yourself when so many people need you to choose them first.

Prima knows this better than most.

She is a mother of five. She works two jobs. She lives all the way in Quebec, Canada. And in just three months on April Laugh Fitness, she lost 11.2kg, going from 89.9kg to 78.7kg, She got back into her pre-pregnancy clothes, eliminated chronic knee and foot pain that had plagued her for years, and fell completely in love with strength training. This is her story!

Why Prima came back

Prima actually first joined April Laugh Fitness back in 2023. She did about a month and a half on the programme and then life happened. She got pregnant, and then pregnant again, and then again.

When she was ready to lose weight after her pregnancies, she remembered one thing about the programme that had stuck with her all that time.

“We used to eat carbs. There was no starving.”

That memory brought her back. Because the alternative, the kind of restrictive diet she had tried when she was younger, half a cup of rice for the entire day was not something she was willing to go back to. She had been there. She knew where it led.

She also knew she needed more than just a meal plan. She needed accountability. She needed structure. She needed someone who would notice if she went quiet.

“I needed somewhere where somebody could come look for me and say — hey Prima, this doesn’t look right. This is not the way to do this.”

She signed up on February 22nd and officially started on March 2nd.

The results were bigger than the scale

Three months in, Prima has lost 11.2kg. She is wearing pre-pregnancy clothes. Some of those clothes are already getting loose.

But when I asked her about her biggest takeaway, she did not talk about the weight first. She talked about her knees.

As a mum of five with a family that has different meal preferences, Prima spends long hours on her feet meal prepping. For years, by the end of those sessions, the pain in her feet and her knees was unbearable. She would be exhausted and aching just from standing.

“I don’t feel that pain anymore. It’s gone. I can stand for long hours. My knees — I can bend more. That’s been very, very positive.”

That kind of improvement, the ability to move freely, to stand without pain, to carry yourself through a busy day without your body screaming at you is the kind of result that does not show up on a scale. But it changes your entire quality of life.

She also talked about confidence. About looking in the mirror and seeing a different person looking back. About falling in love with pictures again after years of avoiding them.

“I feel sexy again kind of. Yeah.” That line made me so proud.

How she does it with five kids and two jobs

This is the question everyone wants answered. And Prima’s answer is beautifully simple.

Discipline. Structure. And a decision to show up for herself even when it is hard.

With five children, mornings are not always possible. So Prima works out at the end of the day after everyone is in bed, when the house is finally quiet, when she has a pocket of time that is entirely hers.

“I know I’m tired. I know it’s not easy. But that’s what works for me. And I know that to get the body I need, you have to sacrifice something.”

For her meals, she meal preps every weekend without fail, and she preps for herself first. Not as an afterthought after sorting out the family. She completes her own meal prep, sets her portions, and then finishes preparing the family meals.

This shift of putting yourself first in the meal prep process sounds small. It is actually enormous. Because it means your nutrition is never an afterthought. It means you never get to the end of a Sunday having sorted out everyone else and run out of time for yourself.

Structure removes the guesswork. And without guesswork, consistency becomes possible even in the most demanding seasons of life.

What Prima loves about the programme

When I asked Prima about the workouts, her face lit up.

She loves that the programme is progressive. When she started, it was not aggressive. Nobody threw burpees at her on day one. The intensity built gradually, week by week, month by month, allowing her body to adapt and grow stronger without being overwhelmed.

And now? She loves strength training. More than cardio. More than anything.

“I love the feeling. Feeling very strong, the muscles. I love that.”

She also spoke beautifully about the community — the Fit Sisters. About how welcomed she felt from the very first day. About how that welcome made her want to pour back into the community herself, showing up for new members, leaving encouraging comments, making sure no post went unnoticed.

Accountability works both ways. When you know someone is watching for you, you show up. And when you show up, you become the person who makes others show up too.

Prima’s advice for every busy mum reading this

She said it so clearly that I want to give her the space to say it in her own words.

Start now. Do not wait for the perfect time. Life will never stop being busy. Work will never go away. Family will never go away. The only thing that changes is whether you decide to make time for yourself within all of it.

You have to be somewhat selfish. Not in a way that neglects your family, but in a way that acknowledges that if you do not show up for yourself, nobody else will. And a depleted, exhausted, pain-ridden version of you is not the best version you can give to the people you love.

Find what works for you. Morning workouts or evening workouts. Weekend meal prep or divided across the week. It does not have to look like anyone else’s routine. It just has to be yours; consistent, scheduled, and non-negotiable.

Ask for help when you are overwhelmed. The community is there. The coaches are there. You are not expected to figure everything out alone in your corner. Reach out. Someone will always show up for you.

And above all, see this as a lifestyle, not a diet. Because the moment you call it a diet, your brain starts counting down the days until it is over. A lifestyle has no end date. It just becomes who you are.

A final word

Prima is no longer in pain. She is more confident. She is lifting heavier. She is showing up for herself while raising five children, working two jobs, and doing it all the way from Quebec, Canada.

If she can do it and I mean this sincerely — so can you.

You just need to be ready to take action. To stop sitting on the fence. To decide that this is the time. Maybe Prima’s story is your sign. 💛
