Bisola’s 4-Month Postpartum Transformation: Dropping 21kg and Reaching Size Medium

The Wake-Up Call

Every weight loss journey begins with a “why,” but for Bisola, a mother based in Texas, the “why” was a matter of urgent health.
During her nine-month postpartum checkup, she received concerning news: her blood sugar was in the pre-diabetic range and her blood pressure was dangerously high.

“I didn’t want to wait until I weaned my baby to start this process,” Bisola shared during our recent interview. “Healthy mom, healthy baby”. Despite the common advice to wait until after breastfeeding to lose weight, Bisola knew that reclaiming her lifestyle couldn’t wait.

Breaking the Breastfeeding Myths

One of the biggest hurdles Bisola faced was the misinformation surrounding nutrition while breastfeeding. She had been led to believe that “eating for two” required massive portions and specific high-calorie “galactagogues”.

“Everyone made it seem like if you don’t eat enough, you’re going to lose your supply,” she explained. Her typical breakfast consisted of oats loaded with brewer’s yeast, flaxseed, chia seeds, nuts, and full-cream milk. Through April Laugh Fitness program, she learned the power of portion control and realised that she could maintain her milk supply while losing weight sustainably.

The Transformation: By the Numbers

Bisola joined April Laugh Fitness community in December, and her progress in exactly four months has been nothing short of extraordinary.

The Secrets to Her Success

Bisola attributes her success to a combination of structured support and a resilient mindset:

  • Meal Prepping: Cooking in batches and portioning meals for the week helped her avoid the temptation of baked goods at the office.
  • Progressive Workouts: Starting with a struggle to hit 100 “jumpings,” she now handles 200 repetitions three times per session under the guidance of Coach Sammy.
  • Community Accountability: Being part of the “Coaching Girls” group provided the “tough love” she needed from our head Coach.
  • Finding the “Why”: On days she felt like giving up, she focused on her energetic son. “I need to be able to play with him and keep up with him,” she said.

Advice for Fellow Mums

For women sitting on the fence, Bisola has one clear message: Don’t wait.

“The earlier, the better,” she advises. “Once your doctor clears you, get started. And infact, before it gets to that point. Do something! You will thank yourself for it in the long run”.

She also stresses the importance of external help, noting that while some can do it alone, having a coach and a community of like-minded women prevents the overwhelm that leads to backsliding.

Bisola is now halfway to her target goal of losing 40kg, and with her newfound energy and confidence, there is no stopping her.
